Alicia Hope Namubiru
On February 12th, 2019, tragedy struck when Alicia Hope Namubiru, a seven-year-old primary two student from an undisclosed school in Kampala, suffered a devastating accident at a play area. Falling from a swing during breakfast, she sustained a broken scalp and was rushed to Nsambya Hospital. Despite the ordeal, Hope underwent a successful operation led by Dr. Kyalyabwire a week later. However, this marked the beginning of a challenging journey, as she was sidelined from school activities for the entire year, spending much time in hospital for reviews.
During her visits, she encountered numerous other children facing various health challenges, including tumors, disabilities, accidents, and orphanhood. Witnessing their struggles firsthand, Hope made a solemn vow that if she recovered, she would utilize the funds collected during her bedridden period to assist these vulnerable children. True to her word, Alicia Hope Foundation was established on March 31st, 2019, dedicated to extending aid and support to those in need, embodying the spirit of compassion and resilience.
